Vow renewal ceremonies

A renewal of vows ceremony is a special occasion where couples reaffirm their commitment to each other, celebrating their love and partnership. This ceremony can be tailored to reflect the couple's unique relationship and preferences, making it a memorable and personal event.

A renewal of vows ceremony allows couples to publicly declare their continued love and commitment. It can be held for various reasons, such as celebrating an anniversary, overcoming challenges together, or simply wanting to reaffirm their vows. The ceremony can be intimate with just the couple and close family or a larger celebration with more guests.

Personalising Your Renewal Ceremony

Here are some ways to personalise your renewal ceremony:

  • Choosing Your Words: Select from a range of word choices provided to create a meaningful ceremony. Ensure the words express your feelings and are comfortable for both partners.
  • Readings: Include readings that resonate with you. You can choose from the suggested selections or use a favourite piece. Involving a family member or friend to present a reading adds a personal touch.
  • Music: Music enhances the ceremony's atmosphere. You can include pieces from your original wedding or civil partnership ceremony or choose new songs that are significant to you.
  • Promises and Vows: Customise your renewal promises. You can select up to four suggested promises that reflect your commitment to each other or write your own. If you have children, you can also make promises to them, involving them in the ceremony.
  • Ring Exchange: Decide whether to exchange new rings or use your original ones. The ring exchange symbolises the enduring nature of your vows.
  • Ceremony Structure: The outline of the ceremony structure includes an introduction, readings, promises, renewal of vows, ring exchange, and conclusion. You can personalise each section to suit your preferences.

By thoughtfully selecting your words, readings, music, and promises, you can create a renewal ceremony that truly reflects your relationship and celebrates your love in a unique and personal way.

Our registrars will work with you to create a meaningful ceremony which can be personalised to your taste and creating a memorable occasion for all.

Please note, a vow renewal ceremony has no legal status and is a commemorative event only.

Please contact us if you wish to enquire about a Vow Renewal Ceremony and one of our Registrars will contact you directly to discuss your special day.
