Providing vibrant, connected and safe neighbourhoods is a priority for Rotherham Council and communities are at the heart of everything we do. Anston and Woodsetts Ward Councillors were elected to listen to your views and work with you to make a difference in the local community.

We know many of our residents are passionate about making their community a better place to live and we are here to work in partnership and make these improvements a reality.  Councillors used a range of information – listening to local residents and council staff, looking at statistics and other data – to develop these ward priorities:

Anston and Woodsetts Ward priorities

  • Represent all areas of our community
    • Ensure all residents from all areas are of the ward feel included and represented, including North Anston, South Anston, Woodsetts and Thorpe Salvin
    • That residents in rural area like Turnerwood, Lindrick Dale, Netherthorpe and Cinder Hill have a voice
    • Involve and work with local community groups across the ward to make Anston and Woodsetts Ward an even better place to live and work
  • Make people feel safe
    • Work with the police to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour in hotspot areas
    • Highlight the specific issues around rural crime and support initiatives to tackle it
    • Work with the police and the community for more speed enforcement to make our roads safer
    • Work to make our roads safer with speed reduction and safety schemes coupled with better enforcement
    • Highlight the overuse of our village roads by HGVs and speeding traffic
  • Cleaner streets, lanes and open spaces and protect the environment
    • Work with Council services to encourage tougher enforcement on fly-tipping and littering
    • Support and develop community onitiatives to reduce litter, dog fouling and fly-tipping
    • Ensure our green spaces are properly maintained and looked after
    • Ensure that the voice of the community is heard in any proposed planning developments
  • Improvements to our public transport and roads system
    • Protect our local bus and rail services and work towards increased accessibility of all areas of our ward to high quality public transport including road and rail
    • Work with residents to prioritise for repairs and resurfacing work on our roads and pavements
  • Develop initiatives to support local businesses
    • Explore opportunities around creating a local business forum
    • Champion local businesses in the ward
    • Increased connectivity to high-speed broadband where possible
  • To support voluntary and community organisations particularly those affected by Covid-19
    • Identify volunteers and volunteering opportunities building on community activity through the pandemic
