Ward plan

Providing vibrant, connected and safe neighbourhoods is a priority for Rotherham Council and communities are at the heart of everything we do.  Keppel Ward Councillors were elected to listen to your views and work with you to make a difference in the local community.

We know many of our residents are passionate about making their community a better place to live and we are here to work in partnership and make these improvements a reality.  Councillors used a range of information – listening to local residents and council staff, looking at statistics and other data – to develop these ward priorities:

Keppel Ward priorities

Priority 1: Address your concerns in relation to road safety and traffic

  • Respond to community concerns around the Ward with regards to road safety/traffic beginning with the following locations:
    • Thorpe Street
    • Scholes Village
    • Brook Hill
    • London Way
    • Kimberworth Park

Priority 2: Improve facilities for our young people and their quality of life

  • Improve existing facilities through investment beginning with the following locations:
    • Thorpe Hesley Recreation Ground

Priority 3: Address your concerns in relation to crime and anti-social behaviour

  • Receive and respond to reports of crime and anti-social behaviour
  • Ensure CCTV in right places covering anti-social behaviour, fly tipping, etc

Priority 4: Improve the environment you live in

  • Support local community groups or organisations with environmental projects beginning with:
    • Continuing the development of the Towns and Villages funded project on St Johns Green, including exploring the possibility of painting the business shutters in partnership with local retailers and a local art project
    • The potential design and installation of an environmental feature on Fenton Road
  • Work with partners and the community to reduce fly tipping, dog fouling and street litter, beginning with:
    • Purchasing / installing additional ‘No Littering’ signs
    • Partnership projects to help maintain local green spaces

Priority 5: Support your community

  • Promote opportunities for bringing people together and enhance community spirit beginning with:
    • Purchasing and installing three Christmas Trees at these locations: Thorpe Street, Oaks Lane and Fenton Road/Roughwood Road
