Ward plan
Providing vibrant, connected and safe neighbourhoods is a priority for Rotherham Council and communities are at the heart of everything we do. Maltby East Ward Councillors were elected to listen to your views and work with you to make a difference in the local community.
We know many of our residents are passionate about making their community a better place to live and we are here to work in partnership and make these improvements a reality. Councillors used a range of information – listening to local residents and council staff, looking at statistics and other data – to develop these ward priorities:
Maltby East Ward Priorities
Priority 1: Improving opportunities and inclusivity for children and young people
- Support local activities for families.
- Support families with Special Educational Needs (SEND).
- Help connect children and young people to initiatives which aim to improve their wellbeing and job opportunities
Priority 2: Support existing and new community groups to thrive and develop
- Promoting Healthy Lifestyle
- Supporting initiatives that improve older people quality of life.
- Tackling loneliness and isolation in line with 5 ways of wellbeing
- Support Maltby residents with Disabilities, physical and mental health
Priority 3: Develop and support initiatives to improve community safety and the environment
- Partnership working with Council departments, police and community to deliver projects which tackle antisocial behaviour and crime.
- Walkabouts and community engagement
- Facilitate Multi Agency meetings and events
- Promote and support Police initiatives, including encouraging the reporting of crime and antisocial behaviour.
- Road Safety
- Support residents with e-safety.
- Road safety including bike riding and e-scooters
- Environmental Crime and sign posting to council services such as bulking item collection.
Priority 4: Support Maltby local economy and improve the high street environment
- Engage with local business to identify opportunities to improve Maltby High Street.
- Support businesses and police tackle anti-social behaviour and crime
- Support and develop activities and initiatives to encourage shoppers back to the Highstreet.
