Ward plan

Providing vibrant, connected and safe neighbourhoods is a priority for Rotherham Council and communities are at the heart of everything we do.  Rotherham East Ward Councillors were elected to listen to your views and work with you to make a difference in the local community.

We know many of our residents are passionate about making their community a better place to live and we are here to work in partnership and make these improvements a reality.  Councillors used a range of information – listening to local residents and council staff, looking at statistics and other data – to develop these ward priorities:

Rotherham East Ward priorities

Priority 1: Support Rotherham East recover from the impact of Covid-19

  • Develop an understanding of food provision across the ward and explore any requirements for further support 
  • Support initiatives which help families in the cost of living crisis

Priority 2: Work with internal and external partners to support and deliver initiatives involving local people

  • Make improvements to the public realm on Doncaster Road drawing upon Rotherham Council's Towns and Villages Fund  
  • Explore the possibility of making improvements to the public realm around The Lanes 
  • Explore the possibility of making improvements to the Eastwood Trading Estate 
  • Work with RiDO, Green Spaces and the Wildlife Development Trust (WDT) to improve Eldon Road Playing Fields 

Priority 3: Respond to crime and anti-social behaviour across the ward

  • Continue to monitor and respond to crime and anti-social behaviour
  • Review CCTV deployment on an ongoing basis
  • Oversee the delivery of the Eastwood Village Action Plan
  • Develop multi-agency place-based problem-solving plans in response to community concerns
  • Provide Rotherham Council Grounds Maintenance with areas to enable clean-up days to be carried out

Priority 4: Work with local schools to support their aims and aspirations for their pupils and the wider school communities

  • Receive progress reports in respect of the new Badsley Moor Primary School (BMPS) unit 
  • Deliver an oral health project across local primary schools
