Ward plan
Providing vibrant, connected and safe neighbourhoods is a priority for Rotherham Council and communities are at the heart of everything we do. Thurcoft and Wickersley South Ward Councillors were elected to listen to your views and work with you to make a difference in the local community.
We know many of our residents are passionate about making their community a better place to live and we are here to work in partnership and make these improvements a reality. Councillors used a range of information – listening to local residents and council staff, looking at statistics and other data – to develop these ward priorities:
Thurcroft and Wickerlsey South Ward priorities
Priority 1: Build a stronger, cohesive community
- Encourage and empower community groups
- Improve resident engagement
- Improve community facilities, amenities and opportunities
- Support individuals, families and businesses to navigate the cost of living crisis
- Address social isolation
Priority 2: Support crime prevention strategies and target anti-social behaviour
- Work in partnership with local Police to identify and address local crime
- Promote the importance of reporting crime and support residents to do so
- Focus on projects which address the root causes of crime and anti-social behaviour
Priority 3: Develop and improve the local environment
- Community clean up days
- Community orchard
- Work with partners and the community to develop heritage and educational projects, including around Thurcroft Troll Festival
- Support the productive use of vacant property in the Ward
