Broom Road and Wickersley Road

We are proposing separate cycleways and bus priority measures on Broom Road and Wickersley Road between Clifton Roundabout and East Bawtry Road, as well as improvements to crossings and junctions. This will make bus journeys quicker and more reliable, make walking safer and provide a safe route for those cycling. These improvements are listed below.

  • Scheme connects to existing cycle route, between Fraser Road and Boswell Street
  • Segregated footway and cycle route throughout
  • Bus lane extension Eastbound from Middle Lane South to Stag Roundabout
  • Improvements to Stag Roundabout
  • Creation of Bus Lane Westbound approaching Stag Roundabout
  • Segregated footway and cycle route throughout
  • Scheme terminates to the West of Brecks Roundabout

Please note: Improvements to Stag Roundabout are explained in detail on the next page.

We are keen to make the space feel more attractive, as well as improving functionality. This might include Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS). SUDS are nature-friendly ways of managing rainwater in towns and cities. Instead of letting rainwater rush into drains and potentially cause flooding, SUDS use clever landscaping, plants, and soil to slow down, soak up, and filter water. This helps keep streets drier, reduce pollution, and adds green, attractive spaces for people and wildlife. Imagine a rain garden on your street or beautiful planted areas along paths—these are examples of SUDS in action, making neighbourhoods greener, healthier, and better prepared for heavy rainfall.
