Right to Object

Information you should be aware of when submitting a request

The Council has one month to respond to a request objecting to personal information being processed from the date a verified request is received (i.e. application form and acceptable copies of identification).

RMBC may contact you upon receipt of your request in order to obtain further information from you to identify the records you are referring to and clarify why you are objecting to your information being processed.

There are several reasons why the authority may refuse to comply with your request. These include if the authority can demonstrate “compelling legitimate grounds” for the processing, which override the interests, rights and freedoms of the individual. Also, refusal may also occur if the information is being processed in relation to legal proceedings.
