Insurance Claims against the Council

Making a claim against the council

The Insurance Section handles claims made against the council for compensation for injury or damage. This could be claims arising from public highways, footways, injury to employees, motor incidents, or housing tenants suffering damage or injury caused by the council.

How to make a claim

You can make a claim by completing the online form:

Make a claim to the Council

Or by sending a letter to the following address:

Insurance Section, Finance & Customer Services, Rotherham MBC, Wing C, 3rd Floor Riverside House, Main Street, Rotherham S60 1AE.

Your letter should include the following information:

What happens next?

Once we receive your claim, we will send you an acknowledgement, which will include a claim reference number. They may require additional information, however, once the investigation is complete, they will be in touch to confirm the outcome.

What if I am not happy with the outcome?

If you are not happy with the outcome of your claim, you can ask for a review. You can do this by contacting the Insurance Section at the address above.
