How to use Rotherham council charging points
We have charging points located around the borough. These are operated by Three seperate companies:
Operator | App Link | Customer Services | Email support |
---|---|---|---|
Mer UK | Mer UK | 0203 8842 768 | hello.uk@mer.eco |
Blink | Blink UK and EU | 0800 2088 007 | support.uk@blinkcharging.com |
Project EV | Project EV | 0800 5999 582 | proapp@projectev.co.uk |
You can create an account by downloading the correct APP for the charger on Android or IOS to access the charger and pay using your smartphone. The app advises the current rate per kWh.
Once you join, you can request an RFID tag which you can scan at the chargepoint to use it. This will work at any of that operator’s public chargepoints in Rotherham and across the UK and Europe and is quicker and easier if you are a regular user.
Charge using the app or RFID card
This charge point can be activated using your RFID tag or the correct operator’s APP.
- Activate by tapping your RFID card on the chargepoint's communication terminal or by using the APP on your smartphone or device to find the charge point identification number and then follow the instructions in the APP (Tip, if you connect the cable before this stage, the system may think the charger is already in use and not allow you to proceed).
- Connect your cable to the vehicle first.
- Then connect to the chargepoint.
- The charger will prepare and then start to charge and your cable will be securely locked in place.
- To stop charging and unlock your cable, tap your RFID card again or use the APP to stop the session (Tip you must stop the session even if your EV is fully charged).
- Disconnect from the chargepoint first.
- Then disconnect from your vehicle (Tip, some EVs need the car unlocking using the key fob to release the car end of the cable).
