Rotherham Biological Records Centre

Service availability

The service operates on a part time basis (Monday-Wednesday inclusive) and has one permanent staff member supported by a small but dedicated team of volunteers who concentrate largely on the capture of the large quantity of paper-based, ‘historical’ data.

Rotherham BRC is part of a countrywide network of Local Environmental Records Centres (LERCs), of which six (North & East Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, Barnsley, Doncaster, Sheffield & Rotherham) serve Yorkshire. These LERCs constitute the Yorkshire Environmental Data Network (YEDN), a group formed to facilitate co-operative and cross-boundary working with the aim of harmonising and improving biological data movement and provision across the county.
