Speech, Language & Communication Needs (SLCN)

Tiny Talkers

Speech, language and communication (SLC) skills are critical to children’s overall development.

Being able to speak clearly, process sounds, understand others, think critically and express their ideas are fundamental building blocks to overall development, and educational outcomes later in their lives.

As an early year’s professional, you know how important speech, language and communication are for building strong foundations. Around 1 in 10 children have speech, language and communication needs, and everyone has a responsibility to identify and help children who are struggling.

Tiny Talkers supports local parents, carers and early years professionals by providing lots of ideas and activities for boosting children’s vital speech, language and communications skills.

Search the Tiny Talkers website for tips and activities, or to find out what training and resources are available to professionals.
