Why is this happening?
In 2009, a new law called the Autism Act was made.
This made sure adults with autism got the things they need in health and social care.
In 2014, the Government set out a plan of action called “Think Autism”. This told us what areas we need to work onto support people with autism. These are:
- Training professionals in autism education.
- Helping adults with autism into work.
- Making sure there are local services available and access to these is easy
- Making an autism diagnosis easy to understand.
- Making reasonable adjustments.
We now need to show what Rotherham is going to do to help make this happen.
