What do people say about us?

Listening to the views and feedback of the children and families is highly important to us at the Rotherham Healthy Holidays Programme. We put the children and families at the heart of our delivery, offering a child centred working practice. To help us understand the children’s and family’s views and opinions, we ask parents, carers and children to provide feedback on the camps they have attended, what they enjoyed and what they feel we can improve on in the future. This is valuable for the Healthy Holiday team to understand and identify areas for improvement and what is working well. We also ask the providers to complete a self-assessment feedback form for each programme. This feedback helps us understand how we can improve the programme and future deliveries.

In 2024-2025 children, parents, carers, schools and providers have told us:

“I liked the places we went to and the activities we did.” - Child.

“I liked meeting my friends and the sports kept me doing healthy exercise.” – Child

“I like the different types of food we have; the meals change all the time. I like all the different snacks we have too.” - Child

“All my children enjoyed spending time at the holiday club with their friends.” - Parent

“I find the activities helps my child with her social skills. She enjoys a range of activities and meets other children.” - Parent

“The staff are very supportive towards the children.” – Parent

“Keep up the hard work, this camp is the best!”- Parent

“Great, wonderful service for the kids, the children loved it.” – Parent

“This service is invaluable to myself as a foster carer as it provides a safe space and well trained staff that can engage with a variety of children and allows them to try new activities, learn new skills and build self-esteem and confidence within themselves. It allows the children to make friends locally and gives them guided opportunities to build peer relationships.” – Foster Carer

“The Healthy Holiday Programme has had a transformative impact on the community, providing vital support for over 60 children each summer. The programme offers a safe, nurturing environment where children can engage in a wide range of fun and enriching activities from sports and arts to outdoor play, while building friendships and developing social skills. A key feature of the programme is the provision of a nutritious meal each day, ensuring that all children have access to healthy food throughout the holiday period, helping families and promoting overall wellbeing. Families consistently tell us how much their children look forward to attending, and how reassured they feel knowing their children are safe, happy, and thriving during the school break.” – Headteacher of School Provider.

“The holiday activities have made a significant impact for both children and their families. Without HAF we know that many children would have little to do during the holiday periods, most likely stuck behind a screen for hours on end, living a sedentary monotonous lifestyle during school holidays. The various opportunities that HAF brings, helps to broaden the horizons of the young people, providing them with numerous personal development activities, developing aspirations, whilst also creating a wide range of inclusive physical activities, encouraging heathy habits. Providing the healthy lunches is also hugely vital, with so many families feeling the pressure to afford the basics. This without doubt helps to reduce the stress and anxiety many households feel, whilst also ensuring children have access to a healthy lunch each day. The HAF programme unquestionably supports the wellbeing and emotional mind-set of children, helping them to reach their potential.” – Extended Services Partnership Officer of a School Trust.
