Homelessness: Advice for supported accommodation residents

Advice for supported accommodation residents

If you are currently living in supported accommodation but are facing eviction, you need to firstly speak to your accommodation provider, as they may agree to let you stay there longer.

You should also speak to the homeless team before you are evicted, as the earlier we know of your circumstances, the more help we can give you to find a home and stop you come becoming homeless.

If you are being evicted because of anti-social behaviour or not paying rent when you could afford to do so, you may be making yourself intentionally homeless, and we may not be able to offer any support.

If you end your supported accommodation tenancy without speaking to your support worker, then you could be deemed as making yourself intentionally homeless and we may not have a duty to assist you.

Move on process

If you are currently in supported accommodation and are wanting your own tenancy, then you will need to speak to your support worker in your placement. They will work with you, and when they feel that you are ready to live on your own, they will start the move on process with the Council.
