Losing your home can be very stressful. We want to support you and help you stay in a safe place to live.
You can contact Rotherham Council at any time - even if you're just worried about becoming homeless. The earlier you get in touch, the more we can do to help you stay in your home or find somewhere else to live.
You don’t have to be sleeping on the street to be homeless.
You may be considered homeless if:
- You have no shelter at all (sleeping rough)
- You’re staying somewhere temporary (like a hostel or shelter)
- You’re in unsafe or insecure housing (for example, if you’re at risk of eviction, experiencing domestic abuse, or staying with friends or family - also known as ‘sofa surfing’)
- You’re living in unsuitable housing (such as an illegal campsite, a home that’s not fit to live in, or somewhere extremely overcrowded)
