Council's responsibility
As a Local Authority, we have got a legal duty to assist you if you are threatened with homelessness or are homeless. The type of assistance we will provide depends on your circumstances and eligibility.
You are considered threatened with homelessness if you are likely to become homeless within the next 56 days or if you landlord has issued you with a valid notice.
You are considered homeless if you have no home in the UK or anywhere else in the world available and reasonable to occupy.
