Objective
Rotherham’s Homelessness Prevention and Rough Sleeper Strategy 2026–2031 sets out the Council’s high-level approach to preventing homelessness and supporting people at risk.
Key priorities
The strategy is built around four key priorities:
- Preventing homelessness through early, proactive intervention
- Increasing the supply of and access to suitable, affordable housing
- Ensuring support reaches those most in need at the right time
- Tackling rough sleeping through prevention and rapid response
The strategy is informed by local data, partnership working, and lived experience, and supports the ambition to make homelessness rare, brief, and not repeated.
A collaborative action plan will be developed with partners to deliver these priorities. This will be published by Autumn 2026 and updated annually.
