Cost of a community alarm

For new installations, you will not require a telephone line. This is because the new equipment will use mobile phone technology; however there may be exceptions due to network coverage in some areas.

A programme of work is currently underway which means all the Rothercare technology is being upgraded from analogue to digital.

From April 2025, there is a yearly service charge of £234.00 plus VAT where applicable. This is a weekly charge of £4.50 per week, plus VAT where applicable.

Payment can be made annually or monthly and can be paid by:

  • online using debit or credit card or Paypal (selecting option 3. Sundry Accounts Invoices) 
  • by telephone by calling our 24/7 automated card payment line 0300 456 2723
  • at Post Offices or shops displaying the PayPoint logo with the invoice
  • by posting a cheque to the address shown on the invoice
  • by home banking or BACS with the details shown on the invoice
  • If you are a Council tenant, the service charge can be paid as part of your rent payments

If you no longer require the service, then you can contact Rothercare on 01709 371897 between 9am and 5pm. 

You will be offered the chance to have an assessment to see how assistive technology might benefit you before you make a decision to opt out of receiving the service.

If items of equipment are lost, intentionally damaged or broken you might incur additional charges.
