Frequently asked questions

How is the scheme being funded?

The scheme is being funded by a grant from the government which was secured by the Council in Summer 2023 as a result of the Levelling Up bid that was submitted in 2022.

How will the investment benefit the area?

The investment aims to improve the quality of the buildings and environment in the area and as such attract more visitors and boost the local economy. By encouraging more people to use their local town centre it is hoped that benefits will be wide reaching. The investment also aims to reduce incidences of negative behaviour in the town centre.

When will the project start and finish?

Funding for the scheme was first announced in March 2023 and was secured by the Council in June 2023. The project formally began in August 2023 following authorisation at Cabinet.

It will be a number of months before any physical works are visible on site. It is anticipated that the construction phase of the project will start in 2025 and complete in 2026.

How will local people be kept up to date with the project?

This dedicated page will be kept up to date with key information. Links to the website will be displayed on posters and site hoardings locally.

The ward newsletter will also continue to be a key method for sharing information about the project.

How do I enquire about leasing one of the new units?

Please note that we are in the early stages of the project and timescales for beginning the letting application process are not yet known.
