What to publish by the end of June
To be transparent and show how the extra funding is being used, your council must publish a report on its website. This report should be in plain English and include:
- how much your council is spending on road maintenance (both capital and revenue funding), and how this compares to the last 5 years
- the condition of your roads, including what percentage are in good, fair or poor condition, and how this has changed
- how many potholes your council has filled in each of the last 5 years
- your plans for 2025 to 2026, including which roads you plan to resurface
- how you are balancing preventative maintenance with reactive repairs
- what you are doing to reduce disruption from utility works and how you are coordinating these with your own plans
- how you are making your roads more resilient to climate change
- how you are using best practice, innovation and working efficiently
