Scams and bogus callers

Scammers and fraudsters may get in touch by phone, online, post or in person claiming to be from or acting on behalf of the Council or a partner.

If you are in doubt about a phone call: hang up

If you are in doubt about an email or information on a website: ignore it and don’t click any links

If you are in doubt about a house call: ask for ID before letting anyone in your home, and if in doubt refuse entry. All genuine Rotherham Council staff and partners carry ID.

Never give your bank details to someone you’re not sure about
