Making payments
When to send payments
Once you start making deductions under a Direct Earnings Attachment (DEA), you must send the payments to Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council (the council) regularly.
You must send the payment:
- As soon as possible after making the deduction
- No later than the 19th day of the month following the month in which the deduction was made
Examples:
- If you deduct money on 30 September, you must send it by 19 October
- If you deduct money on 1 October, you must send it by 19 November
How long to continue payments
You must continue to make payments until the council tells you to stop. This will usually happen when:
- The debt is fully repaid
- The employee leaves your business
