Winding up proceedings
If your company has unpaid Business Rates and you are worried we might take further action, paying the debt in full, or agreeing repayments prior to this action commencing would avoid any further action.
If your company receives contact in the form of a winding up petition, this gives you seven business days to pay the balance or oppose the petition, before it is advertised to the public in The London Gazette. This advertisement allows other creditors to be notified and potentially claim any debt you owe to them. There is also a risk that any bank accounts held by the company are frozen.
Should a winding up order be granted at the hearing this will place your company into compulsory liquidation. The Official Receiver or a liquidator appointed would take control of the company so that its assets can be sold in order to pay creditors.
At any time, you can pay the outstanding amount in full. If you do this, please contact us so that we can instruct your employer to stop making deductions.
