Training and emotional support for kinship carers

Empower Service

Offers a five-week Kinship Training and Support Group with face-to-face workshops on trauma, attachment, behaviour, and self-care. Booking is through your lead professional, and support may include assessments and help with therapeutic funding.


Kinship Training and Events

Kinship run a range of training, events and roadshows for kinship carers, held in person regionally and online.

Fostering Support

Kinship foster carers, whether temporarily or fully approved, can access the same training as all foster carers. The training offer changes regularly—see the Local Resources website for the latest prospectus.

ParentTalk (Action for Children)

Action for Children run ParentTalk, which offers advice and resources as well as time to talk to a parenting coach via webchat at specific times.

Anna Freud Centre

The Anna Freud Centre has a lot of online resources to help kinship carers, foster carers and adopters think about how trauma can affect how kinship child might behave and relate to others, with advice about how to respond and care.
