Inclusion in school

There may be times when a child struggles to go to school. This could be for a number of reasons. Support is available from a range of teams at the Council and its partners.

Schools will be able to support any difficulties your child is experiencing and can offer advice on how to encourage them to go to school.

Further details about support, such as a part time timetable and alternative provision, can also be found on the SEND Local Offer Education and Childcare wesite along with useful information about support available if your child is being excluded from school or is finding it difficult to attend.

Visit the SEND Local Offer website for more information

Part-time timetables

All children of compulsory school age should receive a full-time education but in very exceptional circumstances there may be a need for a temporary part-time timetable.

This will meet the individual needs of a child and not because a school does not have enough resources, such as the availability of one-to-one support. Everybody involved with the child should agree that attending school on a part-time basis is in their best interest.

If a parent does not agree to a part-time timetable, it must not be put in place, or this may be viewed as an unlawful exclusion.
