Marriage or civil partnership certificate copies
To issue a copy marriage or civil partnership certificate, we will need the:
- full name of each of the couple (including all middle names)
- name of bride(s) or both partners before marriage or civil partnership
- any other names used by the groom(s), bride(s) or partners
- date of marriage or civil partnership
- place where the marriage or civil partnership took place (for example, name of church, register office, hotel)
The cost for each non-urgent certificate is £12.50. The national target for issuing non-urgent certificates is 15 working days from the date of request.
If you require an urgent certificate the cost is £38.50 per certificate. These are prepared within 24 hours (excluding weekends and bank holidays) and can be collected in person or posted out to you. If you indicate you would prefer to collect the certificate in person, the Registrar will call you when the certificate is ready and arrange a time for you to collect.
The Registration Service recommends that applicants opt for Royal Mail’s ‘Signed For’ postage at a cost of £3.35 per order, this is subject to change in line with Royal Mail fees. Where customers opt for standard postage there is no additional charge.
If you have not received your certificate, please only contact the service if you have not received your certificates 20 working days after placing your order.
