CONCESSIONARY VISITS
We recognise that on occasions people may need to use Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) with a van, for example if they have to clear a deceased relative’s house, or are moving house. On these occasions it may be possible to get a one-off concessionary visit. These cases will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, will be recorded and are solely at the discretion of Rotherham Council.
- Concessionary visits may only be used to dispose of your own Household Waste. Commercial or Industrial waste is not covered by the Council’s licence and as such cannot be accepted at sites.
- Concessionary visits will be only offered to Rotherham residents who are moving home, dealing with a bereavement, or having to dispose of large items of Household Waste.
- Residents are allowed one concessionary visit per year. Each concessionary visit allows the resident to make up to three trips within a 14 day period.
- Concessionary visits provide permission to enter one designated Household Waste Recycling Centre only.
- Residents applying for a concessionary visit must list all items they intend to dispose. All waste being deposited will still be subject to the Council’s Waste Acceptance Policy and any waste brought to site that was not listed on application may result in the resident being turned away.
- Residents using concessionary visits will be required to show a form of ID (such as driving licence) when arriving at site
- All waste will be checked upon arrival and Site Attendants reserve the right to turn away anyone suspected of bringing Commercial or Industrial Waste to site. Residents may be asked to complete a trade disclaimer to confirm that all items are Household Waste.
- Details may be passed on to the relevant third parties in accordance with the Data Protection legislation. The Council reserves the right to investigate any suspected breach of these terms and conditions.
