If the landowner is unknown

Check with the Land Registry to see if the road is registered and who the owner is.

It may also be possible to trace the owner from the deeds of the houses in the road or the deeds granting rights of way over the road.

If the landowner(s) cannot be traced the property owners can take over the management and maintenance of the road.
