A Guide to School Transport and Travel

Under Fives (Early Years learners)

Children aged under five years old can travel free of charge on public transport in South Yorkshire but they should be accompanied by a responsible person.

Free transport is not usually provided by the Council for children under five attending early years provision, nursery or a primary school/academy.

However, if your child has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) your child's individual transport needs will be assessed and suitable transport assistance may be recommended.

There will be a contributory charge for using any of the Council's contracted services unless a family is below the income threshold of £16,190 per year.
