Types of Kinship Care
There are different forms of kinship care, and depends on how the child came to live with you, if they are a ‘child in care’, and if you have parental responsibility or not.
Kinship carers may be caring for children through:
- informal arrangements or private fostering
- testamentary guardianship (where parents appoint guardians in their will)
- child arrangements order
- special guardianship order
- fostering as a connected person
