Introducing Kinship Care
Kinship Care is defined as ‘any situation in which a child is being raised in the care of a friend or family member who is not their parent. The arrangement may be temporary or longer term’.
This could happen due to worries about a child’s safety or welfare, and there may be social workers involved.
In other circumstances, parents make informal agreements with family or friends about who will look after the child.
These different circumstances can also change what support is available and it can change the legal status of the children.
