Overview of improvements carried out in 2023:
The roads and pathways renewal project was successfully completed. This provided much needed new tarmac surfaces applying to the main driveway and many of the pathways throughout the site. New paths have also been created. This has greatly improved safe access and improved the overall appearance of the site.
The much-needed improvements to the site’s drainage were completed in 2023 and has so far prevented any further issues as experienced in previous years.
Work to prepare the new environmentally friendly burial area is well underway and should be open for the pilot scheme to commence in early 2024.
A new burial section has been opened on the site and will provide available burial space for many years to come.
A new water tap has been installed to provide cover to the newer burials sections of the site.
2022
Important works to improve the drainage will commence on the 3rd October 2022.
Work is expected to take a maximum of 10 weeks to complete with activity generally taking place between the hours of 07:00 and 16:00. Depending on the requirements of the job this may occasionally run as late as 18:00.
There will be no disruption to memorial and no restrictions to public access.

Dignity Funerals Ltd are producing a Five Year Plan of maintenance and Improvements for all municipal cemeteries in Rotherham managed by them on behalf of the Council. This will be presented at the Improving Places Select Committee on 25 October 2022 alongside the Annual Performance Report and Annual Bereavement Services Report.

For issues or situations relating to any of the cemeteries or the crematorium, please call the Dignity Rotherham Office phone number on 01709 850344. If no one is available in the officer, your call will automatically transfer to Dignity’s Central Contact Centre, you may experience a few minutes hold time. Dignity aim to answer all calls as soon as possible.
Bereavement Services
The Council has retained the responsibility for some of the boundaries at Greasbrough Lane.
