If you are a council tenant and are struggling with paying your rent, or have already missed a payment, please contact us straight away or get in touch through your Housing Online account.
Rent payments are a priority debt and should be paid before most other debts. The sooner you get in touch, the more likely it is that we can work with you to avoid any further recovery action.
If you claim Housing Benefit or the housing element as part of Universal Credit, then you can apply for Discretionary Housing Payments (DHP) if you are struggling to pay rent.
