Keppel’s Column Tour Disclaimer (Terms and Conditions)

You or each individual for a group booking must collectively read and agree to the terms and conditions of the tour disclaimer before booking on to a Keppel’s Column Tour.

By entering Keppel’s Column visitors accept that they have a duty to take reasonable steps to ensure their own safety, taking into account any personal medical conditions.  All persons in and around Keppel’s Column should behave in a safe manner at all times.

Height, size and age restrictions and medical warnings apply. Admittance to Keppel’s Column is subject to availability and capacity.

You are admitted to this site subject to the following Conditions: 

  • All visitors must be aged 13 years or over.
  • You must be able to climb and descend the 217 spiral steps and 4 landing areas.
  • Sensible footwear is essential – no high heels, bare feet or flip flops. Sandals must be securely fastened.
  • No large backpacks, luggage or hang bags are permitted.
  • Hard hats (provided) must be worn at all times.

You cannot climb the inside of the column if you have, or have ever suffered from, the following conditions:

  • Heart/blood pressure problems
  • Asthma
  • Vertigo
  • Severe joint pain/arthritis
  • Back injury or pain
  • Claustrophobia
  • Restricted mobility
  • If you have recently undergone surgery
  • If you are pregnant
  • If you have any restrictive medical condition

If you do not comply with these conditions you may be removed from Keppel’s Column by Rotherham Museum, Arts and Heritage staff, without any right to a refund. Whilst inside Keppel’s Column you must comply with any reasonable instructions given to you by our staff or any third party instructed on behalf of us. We, acting reasonably, reserve the right to vary these Conditions at any time without prior notice.
