Sign up for garden waste collections
New customers
The cost for this service is:
- £53 for your first garden waste bin
- £43 for a second bin
New garden waste customers with a Rothercard are entitled to a discounted rate of £45.05 (15% reduction) for their garden waste collection service for 2026/27. This rate only applies to one bin per household and cannot be claimed against any additional bins.
You will be asked to enter your Rothercard details when completing the sign up for Garden Waste form.
Customers who were previously subscribed to the garden waste service 2025/26
We understand that the disruption last summer was frustrating, and we’re really sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused you.
Because this isn’t the standard of service we are committed to, as a goodwill gesture we are freezing the price for people who resubscribe, and discounting £10 from next year’s bill. If you pay for two bins, you’ll be entitled to a £20 discount.
This means existing subscribers who renew will pay:
- £39 for the first garden waste bin
- £30 for a second bin
If you’re a Rothercard holder, you will pay £31.40 for your first bin. Two bins will cost £61.40. You will be asked to provide your Rothercard details when you sign up.

Direct Debit customers
If you have previously signed up to pay by Direct Debit your payment will be taken automatically on or around 2 February 2026. We’ll send you a reminder of your Direct Debit details and the amount you will be charged the month before we collect your payment.
If you decide not to re-subscribe, you will be able to request a £10 refund per bin. Details of how to claim your refund will be available on our website from early March.
Not sure you have a Direct Debit set up already?
If you start to complete the Sign up for Garden Waste form you will be asked to enter your address details. You will see a message pop up on screen if you already have a Direct Debit set up for the collection of garden waste from your property.
General information
- We aren’t able to offer part year subscriptions.
- Your garden waste (brown) bin won’t be emptied until the correct year’s sticker is displayed.
- Once you’ve paid, we will send out your new bin sticker (which lets our crews know you have a valid subscription)
- We’ll start sending out welcome packs with your new bin sticker and collection calendar from late January onwards – while you wait did you know you can now download our free Rotherham Bins app to see your collection calendar. Simply search for ‘Rotherham Bins’ in the Apple or Play Store.
- Our collection crews have a list of subscribers and will still empty your garden waste (brown) bin while you wait for your new one to arrive
