Property Flood Resilience Grant

Retrospective applications

If work to install resilience measures has already taken place, or it has begun to take place, you can still apply for the property flood resilience grant using the form. You need to indicate that work has already taken place, or begun to take place, when asked about this on the form. Should you incur costs before the application is considered you do so at your own risk that your application may not be approved and therefore you may not be able to recover your expenditure.

We realise that some residents that have been flooded may have:

  1. already installed eligible resilience and /or resistance measures before this grant scheme was launched.
  2. had to instal flood resilience and /or resistance measures as part of the reinstatement repair works to the premises that had to proceed before the grant scheme was launched and/or application decision could be reached.

In these circumstances a retrospective application can be made where you can demonstrate that value for money was achieved. Any payment of grant for this retrospective work is dependent on a successful application being submitted and approved. To be successful your application must meet the following criteria:

  • Works must be completed by a registered company. Claims cannot be made for work carried out by an individual on their own home or business.
  • Invoices must be presented for the work.
  • All products used as part of the resilience measures need to meet British standards and bare the Kitemark.
  • The measures put in place must be found to improve resilience of the property. This will be assessed by an expert and if the measures are found not to have improved resilience, you will not be eligible for the grant.

Should your application not be approved, you will not be able to recover any costs incurred. The Council do not maintain any liability for any expenditure prior to the submission and approval of a grant application.
