The cost of a licence

The council charges a fee to cover the administrative costs for issuing a licence.

  • The total licence fee is £929. The application fee element is £266 which is non-refundable and paid with the application. The maintenance fee element is £663 and is paid once the draft licence has been granted.
  • The licence renewal fee is £237 and is available for renewing applications which have not expired.
  • HMO License renewal Licence maintenance fee is £568 and is available for renewing applications which have not expired.
  • The late application penalty fee is an additional £411 and is paid with the application fee. You will be informed if this is due to be paid as part of the application process. This is non-refundable.
