Struggling to pay your Council Tax?

It is your responsibility to pay your Council Tax on time. However, if you are having difficulty making your Council Tax payments, there are ways we can help.

Managing Your Payments

We offer different monthly payment dates (6th, 13th, 20th or 27th) as well as the option to pay weekly or fortnightly, which may be more suitable to your own personal circumstances, such as the date on which you receive your salary or benefits. There is also an option to spread your Council Tax instalments over 12 months rather than 10.

Council Tax Discounts and Exemptions

When you receive your bill, it is important to ensure you are in receipt of any discounts or exemptions you may be entitled to. If you are awarded a discount or exemption this could reduce the amount of Council Tax you have to pay or may mean that you have no Council Tax to pay.

Council Tax Support

If you claim benefits or have a low income, then you might be entitled to Council Tax Support. Council Tax Support will reduce the amount of Council Tax you have to pay.
