Travel network improvements

Parkgate link road and park & ride

A simple map of roads around Parkgate highlighting the propsed changes

A package of three complementary schemes is being proposed to ease congestion on the A633 by providing:

  • a new link road, footway and cycleway into Parkgate Shopping Parl
  • highway improvements at the Taylors Lane roundabout
  • and a new 300-space park & ride facility for the Parkgate Tram Train terminus.

The proposed new link road and highway improvements will improve bus reliability and journey times in the area, as well as access to the Tram Train network and a proposed new, larger capacity park & ride. New public realm proposals also aim to encourage more active travel, by making it easier to walk and cycle around Parkgate.

The scheme will be delivered to South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive (SYPTE) with money secured from the Department for Transport’s Transforming Cities Fund by the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority.

A consultation on this scheme was run in spring 2021 by SYPTE.
