Doncaster Road, Dalton public transport improvements

Simple map of the Dalton area showing where the extra lane will be added to the A630

To improve reliability of buses serving the River Don corridor – particularly the X78 Sheffield-Rotherham-Conisbrough- Doncaster service – the Council is proposing to add an extra east-bound lane on a 400m stretch of the A630 Dalton Rd. This extra lane will run between Mushroom Roundabout and Dalton Lane. This will ease traffic flow away from the roundabout, and congestion on it, and improve journey times for buses and other road users, including those travelling on all approaches to Mushroom Roundabout.

The scheme will complement South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive’s proposals for the Parkgate area.

If approved, the scheme will be delivered by Rotherham Council with money secured from the Department for Transport’s Transforming Cities Fund by the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority.

A consultation on this scheme is expected in mid-2021, with construction to follow during 2022.
