(Acting) Returning Officer’s comments and proposals

  1. The (Acting) Returning Officer is aware that some electors feel that the KEB polling place, Scholes Cricket Pavilion, is too small. There are no other suitable locations within the polling district that the (Acting) Returning Officer is aware of.  As the polling district is rural in nature and some distance from other built-up areas with a small electorate, the (Acting) Returning officer feels it would be unreasonable to allocate a polling place outside of the polling district, as it could disenfranchise electors.
  2. The KEE polling district exceeds the new recommended number of electors to be allocated to a polling station. The (Acting) Returning Officer proposes to split the KEE polling district into two smaller new polling districts. The new boundary would run down the middle of Kimberworth Park Road and continue on along the treeline behind the properties on Warren Drive, Warren Mount and Watson Close, before meeting the polling district boundary at Low Lane.

The new polling district to the right of the new boundary would be named KEE and the new polling district to the left would be named KEG.As there have been no issues or concerns with the current KEE polling place, St John’s Church, and that it is located near to the new boundary line and accessible to both new polling districts, the (Acting) Returning Officer proposes to allocated St John’s Church as the polling place for KEE and KEG.
